President Shraddha welcomed Rhys Williams from Rotary Central Melbourne and Colleen D'Offay Rotary Brighton to speak to us about Mentor Match.

MentorMatch is a social enterprise purpose built to manage the  International Student Mentoring Program.
It follows the very successful Victoria Police & Ambulance mentoring programs run by Central Melbourne for many years.   This is an exciting new collaboration from Rotary delivering an innovative mentoring program to international students.

It offers an opportunity for Rotarians seeking to “give something back” and provides an opportunity for clubs who are interested in mentoring but were unable to participate in previous   programs.

A mentoring partnership runs for six months with twelve mentoring sessions and is agreed upon by mentors and mentees.  Sessions tend to run for 1 hour per fortnight and could include mentees participating in club meetings, service projects, club social events giving the mentee a broader exposure to Australia and Australian culture. The more engaged in activities they can become, the better for the student.

Prospective mentors complete an application form, including a WWCC and are then matched with a mentee.

This is a great opportunity to share our skills and experiences with an international student and introduce them to Australian culture and career opportunities.
