President Anne

At this week's meeting we welcomed Geoff Cawsey who has been shown how to ZOOM by his delightful granddaughters.  Geoff is recovering from foot surgery earlier this year  although he has had some setbacks.  He and Dulcie are well.

Our guest speaker was Kirsty Ellem, Manager at The Venny.  Our club has been a long time supporter of the Venny which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year   We heard some of the history and the challenges they have faced during COVID in supporting children in the community. Read more

Together with Edith Chen and a number of volunteers, the Op Shop has had a major clean out under the new COVID safe plan.  We have been painting, reorganising space and clearance of old and unwanted stock.  Many thanks to John Heyes, Karolina and Mel, and our reliable volunteers for their efforts.  Any members who have time to offer, please contact Anne to ensure COVID safety with numbers.
It was great to see Len Seddon who dropped into the shop during the week.  He is looking well.

The club has been asked to support shipments of hospital beds to Sri Lanka from our sister club, the Rotary Club of Columbo.  They have obtained a formal request from the Ministry of Health as COVID numbers have overloaded their hospitals.  Nihal De Run from the BEAM Foundation {www.projectbeap.com.au} and one of our playground partners has arranged for a contribution to cover the shipping through the Trauma Hospital Foundation.  The Board has approved support and shipping of a 2nd container as well.  We know from our partners that these beds will reach the hospitals so very much in need.

We have been advised of the resignation of Carolyn Webster from Kensington  Neighbourhood House.  Carolyn has done an amazing job for over 15 years  developing and promoting KNH and supporting residents.  She is reducing her workload to 4 days pw and taking up the role at Dallas Neighbourhood House.   She will be very much missed.
