RYPEN at Camp Getaway - 27-29 October
We were delighted to sponsor 3 students from MAC to attend RYPEN - the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment.  Claude, Emily and Tara took on the challenge and spent the weekend with 25 other students from across the state.  RYPEN is run b y RYLA alumni and Rotaractors and provides students in years 9-11 with an opportunity to learn to understand themselves and others, manage their relationships, lives, work, and learning more effectively.  The adventure based learning and team situations help develop leadership and cooperation in an unfamiliar environment.
All 3 reported that the food was great!

Many thanks to Suzanne Zammit and her team for providing such a valuable experience.

HARUKA's UPDATE:
Haruka attended the meeting with DG Ron, Deb and the RYPEN students. She gave a short update and was pleased to report that all her assessments were now complete.  She is now on University break and is looking for work - is anyone able to assist?

On Tuesday 21st she and Lesley attended the Paul Harris Foundation breakfast organised by the Rotary Club of Central Melbourne.
At their table were fellow Global Grant scholars, Hikaru Sato hosted by Rotary Glenferrie, Ayase Ishizuka hosted by Rotary Alberty Park and PhD scholar Guillaume Gersdorff hosted by Central Melbourne.  Ayose has just finished the same course that Haruka is studying and Hikaru is studying for a Masters in Public Health.  Guillaume is studying for a PhD focussing on robotics in cochlear implants.

Haruka will also attend RYLA at Camp Getaway in Axedale.  A real bush experience for her.  The program runs from 3-9 December and includes a night camping out.
She will travel by bus from International House and I will pick her up at Camp Getaway and bring her back.
No photo description available.
RYLA provides opportunities to share leadership experiences within a diverse group to understand the unique qualities, abilities and skills of others and how this diversity can empower and encourage participants to facilitate teamwork and greater understanding

This year, long time leader Jess has been joined by Molly {2017}, Kat {2018}and Jaidyn {2016} who will bring a different vibe to the week.
